Mechanical Design Engineer
Job description
Designs products and provides manufacturing support from initial concept to final production of new equipment or designs alterations to existing products. Will interface daily with engineering and other departments, as well as with suppliers & customers, both nationally & internationally, on special projects during design, installation, and/or field mechanical support.
• Provides diversified engineering functions as required to engineer projects and support manufacturing orders.
• Produces 3D models and layouts of major portions of client equipment, sub-assemblies, and prepares technical information as required.
• Designs products using solid modeling/parametric design software (SolidWorks) and other methods as appropriate.
• Assembles necessary drawings, bills of materials, and purchase requisitions required to process a manufacturing order, preparing arrangement drawings as required by customer’s specifications.
• Reviews all project drawings for conformance with current standards and takes corrective action where required.
Qualifications
• Degree or diploma in design or engineering
• 2 to 5 years of experience in mechanical design
• 3D modeling experience, equipment experience a plus
• Proficient in SolidWorks
